The carousel turns in my head, with a melody that plays to all the stupid things I’ve said, it’s decorated with my favourite fears, some shiny and new and some I’ve had for years, It’s always snowing but not cold enough to stick, so my shoes are always wet and the roads are always slick. There’s salt stained carpets, and a dampness in the air, you told me you’d be here, and I told you I’d be there.
You feel the weight of hungry eyes, undressing you by the billiard hall light, how the dogs would hunt their own, if Artemis were here, and we weren’t drinking on our own.
I’m waking up on the passenger side, grabbing for the wheel, while you keep us in the lines. I have this nightmare where I’m haunted by the past, the only thing that’s different is that the nightmare doesn’t last. I take some comfort knowing I’m too anxious to be bored, I take some consolation knowing I don’t know what for. Despite all my contemplation, and with nothing good to wear, when you told me you’d be here, I still told you I’d be there.
You feel the weight of hungry eyes, undressing you by the billiard hall light, how the dogs would hunt their own, if Artemis were here, and we weren’t drinking on our own.
You feel the weight of hungry eyes, undressing you by the billiard hall light, how the dogs would feast on their own, if Artemis were here, and we weren’t drinking on our own.
Just found this by chance in the "if you like David Stone... section" - It's a beautifully warm record, clean and smooth, but without being polished to a shine. Perfect walking-in-Autumn record. David Stone
