Weʼve searched our heads, for things to make us sick. Rebuild a severed bridge, to cross and reminisce. I feel it sway, and stress beneath my weight. Oh, how weʼve grown, since last I saw this place.
So now stand upon the bridge between our lives and what weʼve lived, thinking back to when we first assembled it.
Weʼre not depressed, just letting our hearts catch their breath. With a half a lifetime tucked away, within a gently rattled brain. Itʼs easy to get to turned around, retracing steps you never took. The branches would be stronger now, not even axes can cut through knotted wood.
So now stand upon the bridge between our lives and what weʼve lived, thinking back to when we first assembled it.
I hope we never burn this bridge although weʼll soon lose sight of it, comfort leads to fading luster before long.
Just found this by chance in the "if you like David Stone... section" - It's a beautifully warm record, clean and smooth, but without being polished to a shine. Perfect walking-in-Autumn record. David Stone
