lyrics

I remember being lost, in early September, I took a wrong turn on my way to my new school, I had a panic attack before I knew what that was, and looking back now, I guess it doesn’t matter, even though at the time I was losing my losing my mind, like a moth in a lampshade, thrashing it’s wings, drawn in by the light, of an imaginary sun. Just close your eyes, little one, wait for the darkness, if it ever comes, we’ll both be alright. We’ll both be alright, we’ll both be alright.

Nobody told me we were playing for keeps this whole time.

I used to live In this house, I know these walls inside and out, I know these ghosts don’t mean any harm, they’re all just looking for a way out. Like a moth in a lampshade, thrashing it’s wings, I guess we all have our cages, just kites on a string, scraping the heavens, but bound to the earth, in this endless cycle of death and rebirth, swimming in, the perfect black waters, of a clear night sky, just close your eyes, little one, wait for the darkness, if it ever comes, we’ll both be alright, we’ll both be alright, we’ll both be alright.

Nobody told me we were playing for keeps this whole time.

I know you were broken, and mended with gold, sure sounds beautiful, but we know we'll never be the same as when we were whole. You deserved love in the first place, instead of thrashing your wings, drawn by some imaginary sun, until you just closed your eyes, and waited on the darkness, if it ever comes, we’ll both be alright, we’ll both be alright, we’ll both be alright.
