lyrics

I climb these old steps but itʼs not the same the child inside has grown and left me here to stay, well better men have come and better men have died using every breath they had to keep our hopes alive, not uniform they wore nor on a white horse did they ride no gun did they carry twas a guitar by their side, well better hands have graced these frets by which I play and better voices rang in the hearts of yesterday, but I stand before you and with every chord I play I carry that message weʼll find peace one day.

Iʼve seen every picture so faded and worn of a world that lay helpless to ravages of war, it seemed so outdated and distant to me like the poets before me who first planted these seeds, I asked of my mother why history repeats why after such horrors are we back over seas, she tells me weʼre fighting so we can be free but how free are the families being shot in the streets.

Maybe the profits of the past had something, if we could make it last we could learn to be loving, when you pull out those records from when you where young, listen to the words to which you used to sing along, they sang not of hatred but of taking the hand, of your brothers beside you and your fellow man. Tell me do you understand?
